Face painting has become be a huge fad right now. And clown face painting is one of the more popular choices. Clown face painting has gained its popularity primarily through numerous circus and kid party appearances. This is why the demand for more clown face painting designs has been on a steady rise. Designs can range from simple to complex. But if you are a beginner in the art of face painting, here are some easy to do designs that you can follow.
The typical clown face is usually just a white face with a red button nose. But clown face designs have gotten more complex and creative over the years. But how do you start? First, you need face paint. Don’t use acrylics or oils. They might cause hypersensitivity reactions, especially in people with very sensitive skin. Use paint made specifically for the face. Face paints are usually water-based making them easy to remove and they dry quickly. So you will not have to wait forever to apply your next coat. You will also need sponges, brushes of different sizes, tissues, cotton, water and soap. Next, visualize the clown face you want to paint. Beginning with the end in mind can make you work more efficiently since you won’t have to constantly stop and re-do your work.
When you have already prepared everything and visualized what you want to achieve, you are now ready to start painting. First, choose a bright red color to paint a red circle on the nose and distended smiling lips. Clown lips are generally exaggerated so make it much bigger, going around the lips and spreading towards the cheeks. Then outline the eyes and the skin on the outer portion of the lips with white. The stark white color will really make the other features stand out. Color in the eye area with bright yellow and add pink circles on the cheeks. Add in a bright pink afro wig to complete the look. Now, you have completed your first clown face design!
A clown face is actually pretty simple to paint, especially if you stick to the basic design. If you desire something more complex, it is up to you to make your own revisions. For instance, clown noses do not always have to be red. Other colors can also be utilized. For your second design, you can use yellow or green. Just be sure to stick to bright happy colors so your clown will not end up looking like something out of a horror movie. Black can also be used as long as you paint only at the tip of the nose. Also, instead of painting on wide lips, you can draw a heart on the lips instead. The eyebrows should be exaggerated so that they will really stand out. Draw a high curve above each eye using black paint. Then color them in using bright blue. For the cheeks, you can use glitter instead of paint for variety. Then put on a bright blue wig to complete the look.
For your third design, just repeat the initial instructions given in the first two designs. And then vary the colors and design. For example, the eyebrows can be drawn differently each time. You can manipulate the angles to create different looks. The color combinations can also be played with. As with the shapes you paint on the cheeks.
There are many more ways to manipulate your clown face designs to make them more unique and interesting. It is up to you how you want your end product to look. So feel free to let loose your creative instincts and paint away!
